ROOT Words in the Hebrew Language
Hebrew - The Language of Heaven
Hebrew words are built from what is called a ROOT Word ( or ROOT Verb ). This root almost always consists of three ( 3 ) letters. In this way, all of the words ( verbs, nouns, adjectives and adverbs ), which are constructed from the common ROOT - are connected and related to each other. Altogether, they form a group or family of words. This then teaches the spiritual principle that all of the redeemed of Yehováh ( "the Lord" ) are to become one family, and one people, altogether, in the Messiah Yeshúa.
The Hebrew word for "ROOT" ( shoh-resh ש ר ש ), also has three ( 3 ) letters.
The root of the Olive Tree ( Romans Chapter 11 ; Verses 16, 17 & 18 ) is the three ( 3 ) Hebrew Patriarchs: Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. They are the root of both the Fig Tree
( Physical IsraEL ) and also of the Olive Tree ( "Redeemed IsraEL" - compare Romans Chapter 11, Ephesians 2:11-13 and Galatians 6:16 ).
So the way that Hebrew words are created and formed, based on their Root Words ( or Root Verbs ), further teaches, that all of the redeemed of Yehováh, are to become one people, and one body together ( Body of Christ / Body of Messiah ).
So the Body of Christ is also the Household and Family of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the fathers of the Hebrews ( IsraEL ).
This critical and important foundational truth is taught throughout the teachings in Book-1, Book-2, Book-3, Book-4 and Book-5 - multiple times and in various ways. Therefore, we strongly encourage you to get and read all of these teachings ( books ). Once you learn and understand your true identity in the Hebrew ( Jewish ) Messiah, then your entire perspective and understanding of the whole Bible, will dramatically become clear. And everything will finally make sense, from The Beginning ( Genesis ), until The End ( Revelation ).
Hebrew - a Language of Verbs
Hebrew is a language of verbs. Often the verb is the Root Word of a particular group or family of words. Moreover, in Hebrew, especially in the Bible, a verb often starts the sentence. By way of contrast, in English ( and other languages ), a noun almost always starts the sentence.
What is the reason for this? The answer is that Hebrew is a language of action, of doing. It is not enough what we say, what we think, or what we believe, but rather - what we actually do.
This is why we often read verses in the Scriptures, that include multiple verbs concerning our relationship with Yehováh our ELohim. Consider the following:
You shall fear Yehováh your ELohim and serve Him, and shall take oaths in His name. (Deuteronomy 6:13).
אֶת יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ תִּירָא וְאֹתוֹ תַעֲבֹד וּבִשְׁמוֹ תִּשָּׁבֵעַ
12 And now, IsraEL, what does Yehováh your ELohim require of you, but to fear Yehováh your ELohim, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve Yehováh your ELohim with all your heart and with all your soul,
13 and to keep the commandments of Yehováh and His statutes which I command you today for your good? (Deuteronomy 10:12-13).
לִשְׁמֹר אֶת מִצְוֹת יְהוָה וְאֶת חֻקֹּתָיו אֲשֶׁר אָנֹכִי מְצַוְּךָ הַיּוֹם לְטוֹב לָךְ
You shall walk after Yehováh your ELohim and fear Him, and keep His commandments
and obey His voice; you shall serve Him and hold fast ( cleave ) to Him.
(Deuteronomy 13:4).
אַחֲרֵי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם תֵּלֵכוּ וְאֹתוֹ תִירָאוּ וְאֶת מִצְוֹתָיו תִּשְׁמֹרוּ
וּבְקֹלוֹ תִשְׁמָעוּ וְאֹתוֹ תַעֲבֹדוּ וּבוֹ תִדְבָּקוּן
(Hebrew: Deuteronomy 13:5)
Creating and Building Words in Hebrew
So in Hebrew, words are based on the common ROOT Word or ROOT Verb, as the basis.
Then we can Add one, two, or more letters, to the ROOT Word, or any other word derived from it - to form additional words.
We can also Remove letters, from any of the resulting words, to form more words.
Finally, we can Change the order of letters in any of the resulting words, to form new words.
In this way, two or more groups or families of words, can also be connected and related to each other. This deepens their meanings, and expands on their understandings and interpretations, in a given context of a verse(s) or passage.
And in this manner, passages that otherwise would not be seen to be connected or related, actually are. But this connection is hidden within the Hebrew words, and not seen readily in the English translations ( or other languages ).
This amazing construct was built-in to the majestic Hebrew language, by ELohim, at Creation. Moreover, this enables Hebrew words to have multiple levels of meaning, all at the same time. They can also have multiple definitions. The context of the verse or passage determines which one to use.
As a result, Hebrew words, or a particular verse or passage, can have up to Four ( 4 ) Levels of meaning, understanding and interpretation - all at the same time. This is called the PaRDeS, which is actually a Hebrew acronym, which explains this powerful concept. We explain this in much detail, in Book-1, "Born Again Christian is Born From Above Hebrew".
Consequently, it is sometimes NOT possible to simply translate a particular Hebrew word, one-for-one ( from Hebrew to English ), in a verse. The reason is, depending on the context of the verse, or the passage, and the connected and related words, or even the connected and related groups of words, as well as the PaRDeS - there can be as many as Four ( 4 ) Levels of meaning, understanding and interpretation, all of which are proper, true and correct, at the same time.
Thus, the Hebrew word(s) sometimes have to be explained, rather than translated. A word-for-word translation simply can NOT teach, reveal and explain the multiple levels of meaning, understanding and interpretation that are contained within one Hebrew word.
These aspects of Hebrew make the language so rich, and the meaning and understanding of verses and passages so deep. Therefore, so much is simply lost in the translation of the Hebrew words to English, that Bible believers simply do not see, realize or know is even there. Our teachings invite you to explore the richness and depth of the Scriptures through their Hebrew foundations and truths that they were originally written in.
Books, Chapters and Verses are Connected By the Hebrew Words
So Hebrew words that are written in one part of the Bible, are connected and related to Hebrew words used in another part of the Bible. Consequently, many teachings, events, accounts and prophecies, which Moses wrote, are connected and related to similar or related things, that the other Hebrew Prophets wrote hundreds of years afterwards.
Moreover, Moses wrote about almost everything ( directly or indirectly ), that would take place later on. This includes even things written throughout the "NT" ( in the Gospels and in the Writings of the Hebrew - Jewish Apostles ), all the way to the Book of Revelation.
Additionally, there are some events and prophecies, written in the Book of Revelation, that are not possible to properly, correctly or fully understand, until one reads and understands what Moses ( and the Hebrew Prophets ) wrote, which they connect to. Again, many of these things are hidden within the Hebrew words.
Furthermore many things are often difficult to see, realize and understand, in English ( and in other languages ). Much of the richness and depth contained within the meanings, definitions and understandings Hebrew words is simply lost in translations to English.
Afterwards, the English versions of the Bible are then used to translate into other languages. Thus, even more of the meanings, understandings and interpretations of the Hebrew text is just lost in those languages as well.
IN Hebrew, BY Hebrews, TO Hebrews
Since Hebrew words connect accounts, events, prophecies, in verses and passages throughout the Scriptures, the entire Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, is actually One Book, written first IN Hebrew, BY Hebrews, TO Hebrews ( Native-Born ones and Grafted-In ones from the Nations - Christians ).
So by reading, studying and learning the Scriptures, from the Hebrew words, culture, mindset and way of life, from The Beginning ( Genesis ), to The End ( Revelation ) - you can finally be able to see and understand how everything always fits together, and agrees with, what was previously written and taught.
And through this, Hebrew words in a verse or passage, written by one of the Prophets or Apostles, are then connected to verses, passages, stories, accounts and events, written about in another place. Thus, the entire Bible, is One Book, not separated by a doctrine that is erroneously called "Old Covenant" and "New Covenant".
The Hebrew ( Jewish ) people in the "NT", which you read about, are the same people, the descendants of - the ancient Hebrews ( IsraEL ) that Moses and the Hebrew Prophets were teaching and writing to. Do you see and understand this?
In all of our teachings ( books ), we show and explain this powerful concept in action, throughout the Scriptures.
So when the Greek words of the "NT" are translated properly, correctly and accurately, from Greek to English - they will always connect and agree with something which was already written about by Moses and the Hebrew Prophets,
or taught by Yeshúa Himself.
This again shows and proves how everything that Yeshúa said, taught and did, as well as everything that His Hebrew ( Jewish ) Apostles said, taught and did - is based on, agrees with, and supports - what Moses and the Hebrew Prophets had already taught and written.
One Hebrew Word Can Be the Key to Unlock the Meaning
Sometimes, one Hebrew word in a verse acts like a "key". What that word means in the given context unlocks the true, correct and / or deep meaning of the verse or passage. As a result, if we don't know and understand the complete definition of that particular Hebrew word, then we simply cannot understand the true, correct, proper and / or full meaning and interpretation of the verse or passage. Or we will arrive at conclusions, ideas, thoughts, beliefs, or doctrines , which are wrong, incorrect or even false.
Hebrew Words are Like Branches on a Tree
Every Hebrew word has meaning, value and a purpose. And each of them can tell a story. So when additional words are created based upon the common ROOT, they can further explain, expand, enrich or add to the development of the meaning, story, account or event.
In this way, many Hebrew words are connected and related to each other. Thus they form a family of words, just like sons and daughters are connected and related to each other, and form families and relatives of families.
So as each word can tell a story, so you also, as a unique individual, have a story to tell, concerning your own life, ministry, purpose and calling in the Kingdom of ELohim.
Furthermore, in this way, Hebrew words are like branches on a tree. With their deep and rich meanings and understandings - verses and passages, which were written by Moses and the Prophets, in the Hebrew Scriptures ( “OT” ), are connected and related to verses and passages written in the Gospels and Writings of the Hebrew ( Jewish ) Apostles ( "NT" ).
So everything is actually inter-connected, and woven together, as One Book, inspired by One Author - the Holy Spirit of Yehováh ELohim of IsraEL. (2 Timothy 3:16 ; other verses ).
The Hebrew ( Jewish ) Apostles Wrote in Hebrew and Aramaic
The Hebrew ( Jewish ) Apostles wrote the Gospels and their Letters to the various assemblies
( churches ) in Hebrew ( with some Aramaic words, an ancient sister language of Hebrew ).
The Hebrews ( also called "Jews" after the Assyrian and Babylonian Exiles ), learned Aramaic, while they were in captivity in Babylon and Medo-Persia. Aramaic was the lingua franca, or the common language / trading language of the ancient Near East. It was used in that part of the world in ancient Babylon, Assyria, Persia and surrounding areas. It can be written using either letters that look like arabic ( "syriac" ), or using Hebrew.
So some centuries later, by the time of the First Century, when Messiah walked on earth, the Jewish people generally used and spoke both languages. This is why there are Hebrew and Aramaic words in the Greek manuscripts of the "NT". Did you ever notice or realize this before? This also clearly proves that the Hebrew texts ( with Aramaic ) were written first.
Some Hebrew words of the "NT" are not translated into Greek, because there is no Greek equivalent for them. Instead, those words are "transliterated" into Greek. However, when those "Greek" words are then translated into English, often times, the proper, true, correct and accurate meanings, definitions and understandings are lost, and not seen or realized.
Other Hebrew words of the "NT" are given an "interpretation" when put into Greek. In our teachings, we show and explain these things, as we present verses in English, Hebrew and Greek, and explain them. In this way, you can better understand the proper, true, correct and accurate meanings, definitions and understandings of what Yeshúa said and taught, and what His Hebrew ( Jewish) Apostles also said and taught.
Moreover, the grammar of the Greek "NT" texts shows Hebrew sentence structure. This clearly indicates that the Greek translators, were translating from the original Hebrew manuscripts, using a word-for-word basis.
So Hebrew and Aramaic are the languages of the original documents of the Gospels and the writings of the Hebrew ( Jewish ) Apostles - all written in the First Century. One of the well-known early "Church Fathers" ( Eusibius ) wrote that Matthew wrote his Gospel in the Hebrew language. It is actually preserved in the archives of the Vatican unto this day.
Their writings were translated, from Hebrew, into Greek, by non-Jews ( Christians ),
later on, in the Second, Third or Fourth Centuries.
As a result, there are multiple versions of the various Greek manuscripts. And there are differences among them.
During that same period of time, all of the Scriptures ( "OT" and "NT" ) were also translated into Aramaic ( sometimes also known as "Syriac" ).
That version is called "The Peshitta", from an Aramaic word that means "simple". The Jews in the First Century knew both Hebrew and Aramaic. The languages are very similar in various ways. Even pronunciations of words sometimes sound similar.
The Aramaic translation survived throughout the ages and generations, and is preserved well even unto this day.
Some parts of the Hebrew Scriptures ( TeNaKh תְּנַ״ךְ / "OT" ) were written in Aramaic:
Jeremiah 10:11
DaniEL 2:5 - 7:28
Ezra 4:8 - 6:18 , 7:12 - 7:26
Nevertheless, the true, correct, proper and accurate meanings, definitions, understandings and interpretations of the Greek words ( and the words translated into English ) - must always be based on the meanings, definitions, understandings and interpretations of those words, according to the Hebrew language, culture, mindset and way of life.
For example, did you know that in Hebrew, the word for "To Listen" means and requires, that we also "Obey" - all the words of Yehováh our ELohim?
Words which are translated from Hebrew to English [ in the "OT" ] or from Hebrew to Greek [ in the NT" ], and then from Greek to English - often, simply do not retain, the same deep and rich meanings, definitions, understandings and interpretations as the original Hebrew words. This happens in virtually all kinds translation works. But this situation is much more significant in Bible translations, because of the great depth and richness of Hebrew words.
And as explained above, this also happens because Hebrew words can have up to Four ( 4 ) Levels of meaning, understanding and interpretation, all at the same time. This is known in Hebrew by the acronym PaRDeS.
Thus there is so much that is simply lost, and not seen, understood, realized or known, in the various translations of the Bible, whether translated into English, or into other languages.
The Various Greek Versions ( Manuscripts ) of the NT
-
Textus Receptus ( TR ) - This is a critical edition of the Greek NT that was the basis for many early translations, including the King James Version ( KJV ).
-
Nestle-Aland and United Bible Societies ( NU ) - This version includes textual variants and critical apparatus.
-
Codex Sinaiticus - This is an ancient manuscript, which dates back to the 4th century. It is known to be one of the earliest complete sets of the Greek NT. It has a significant influence on modern critical texts.
-
Codex Vaticanus - This is another 4th-century manuscript. It is generally highly regarded for its textual reliability. Often it is compared with Codex Sinaiticus.
-
Majority Text - This version combines traditional readings, which are supported by the majority of Greek NT manuscripts. However, it provides a different perspective from critical texts.
-
Critical Edition - Various modern English translations often depend on critical editions which compare and evaluate different Greek NT manuscripts, with their various differences. These attempt to reconstruct what they believe was the Greek NT texts.
So there are many known differences between and among the various Greek manuscripts of the "NT". That means there are probably, most likely, various errors and mistakes in some of those documents. Which are correct?
The only way to know what is truth, and what is correct, is to translate the Greek words,
so that they always connect and relate to something which Moses and the Hebrew Prophets already wrote, or to what Yeshúa Himself already said and taught.
And this is how it must be, because Yehováh ELohim of IsraEL, does not, and can not
- ever contradict Himself in His Word.
And this is how we teach and explain the Bible, from The Beginning ( Genesis ), all the way to the End ( Revelation ). And when taught in this way, we will see, understand and learn, that the Greek words of the "NT", will in fact, always agree with the Hebrew words of Moses and the Prophets.
The Assyrians, Babylonians and Persians All Spoke Aramaic
During a period of about twenty two ( 22 ) years, from about 744 BCE to about 722 BCE, the Assyrians ( who spoke Aramaic ) conquered the Ten Northern Tribes ( called “IsraEL” ). Many of them were later scattered further northward and eastward, into other lands.
Later the Babylonians ( who also spoke Aramaic ) conquered Assyria. And then afterwards, they also invaded and took captive the Two Southern Tribes ( called “Judah” ). As a result, all of the Twelve Tribes of IsraEL, were sort of "re-united" in their captivities, exiled under the dominion of the Babylonians. But again, many of them were also scattered again, even further northward and eastward, and even westward, into other lands, including to the regions later conquered or controlled by the Greek Empire or the Roman Empire.
Still later, the Medes and Persians ( who also spoke Aramaic ) conquered the Babylonians. And so the ancient Hebrews / IsraELites, were scattered yet again, even further in various directions. All of this was prophesied by Moses to happen, so that they would be scattered to every land under heaven. (Deuteronomy 28:63-65 , 30:1-6).
Chronologically, the first use of the word “Jew” / “Jews” in the Scriptures was written by DaniEL, while he was in the Babylonian Captivity. This is found in the following two verses, which are written in Aramaic.
DaniEL 3:08 "the Jews" ( yeh-hoo-dah-yae יְהוּדָיֵא )
DaniEL 3:12 "the Jews" ( yeh-hoo-dah-yin יְהוּדָאיִן )
Thus, the Assyrians, speaking Aramaic, referred to all of the Hebrews, in the Land of IsraEL,
as “Jews” ( yeh-hoo-dah-yin יְהוּדָאיִן ). This was regardless of which kingdom ( Northern or Southern ) or the tribal ancestry that they belonged to.
Ezra the Priest ( Son of Aaron ), the Scribe
Ezra the Priest, the Scribe, living in the captivity of the Medo-Persian Empire, writing in Aramaic, then used the word which DaniEL used:
Jews ( yeh-hoo-dah-yae יְהוּדָיֵא ) seven ( 7 ) times.
Ezra 4:12 , 4:23 , 5:01 , 5:05 , 6:07 , 6:08 and 6:14
The Prophet Nehemiah, also in the Medo-Persian Captivity, used the Hebrew equivalent of the Aramaic, that was later translated “Jews” ( Yeh-hoo-deem יְּהוּדִים ; Yehudim ).
Most likely, he took this from the words of the Prophet Jeremiah, who had prophesied certain things before and during the three ( 3 ) Babylonian Invasions and Captivities of the Southern Kingdom of Judah ( 605 BCE, 596 BCE and 586 BCE ).
He wrote concerning the people in or from the land area called Judea ( in the Southern Kingdom ), referring to them as “the Jews” ( hah-Yeh-hoo-deem הַיְּהוּדִים ; “hah-Yehudim” ; “the Judeans” ).
The English word "JUDAH" is derived from the Hebrew word ( Yeh-hoo-dah יְהוּדָה ; “Yehudah” ). And the Hebrew word for "JEW" is ( Yeh-hoo-dee יְהוּדִי ; “Yehudi” ).
NOTE: The Southern Kingdom of Judah consisted primarily of Hebrews from the two ( 2 ) Tribes of Judah and Benjamin, and most of the Levites. The Hebrew Scriptures reveal that there were some from the Northern Kingdom ( "IsraEL" ), who left the apostasies and false worship there, at various times, and moved to the Southern Kingdom.
The City of Jerusalem and the Temple ( located in the Southern Kingdom ) were actually in the land area allotted to the Tribe of Benjamin. This is another amazing mystery in and of itself.
Mordechai and the Book of Esther
We then find the word “Jew” ( or “Jews” ) is used more than forty ( 40 ) times in the Book of Esther. This was written in Hebrew, when Mordechai and Esther were in the Medo-Persian Captivity.
It is our belief and understanding, that the nations ( Assyrians, Babylonians and Persians ), speaking in Aramaic, first called all of the Hebrews as “Jews” ( transliterating the Aramaic, through Hebrew and then into English ). Thus the word "Jews" does not mean only those from the Tribe of Judah. This is a common mis-understanding.
Instead, it means and includes all of the ancient Hebrews, from all of their respective tribes. This is also proven by various verses in both the Hebrew Scriptures ( "OT" ), as well as certain specific verses in the writings of the Gospels.
It also appears, that even the Greek word, which is taken from the Aramaic word(s) used by both DaniEL and Ezra ( yeh-hoo-dah-yae יְהוּדָיֵא ), follows a similar transliteration pattern for "Jew" as ( Ee-oo-day'-ohs Ιουδαίος ).
Moses, the Hebrew Prophets, Yeshua, and the Hebrew Apostles
There is a prophetic meaning hidden in one of the Hebrew words that Moses used in Genesis Chapter 22. This is known in Hebrew as "The Akedah" ( "The Binding" ) of Isaac, based on a word used in Verse 9.
This is the account of Abraham going to the Land of Moriah, with Isaac, to offer his unique
( "one of a kind" ) son ( not: his "only" son, as shown in almost all English translations ).
This is about his beloved son Isaac, who is a type and portrait of the Yeshúa, the unique
( "one of a kind" ) beloved Son of ELohim.
And of course, the account is a powerful picture and prophecy of the offering of Messiah, through His crucifixion, on the very same mountain, Golgotha, also known as Calvary, two thousand years later. This is also part of what Yeshúa meant, when He said:
Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad. (John 8:56).
אַבְרָהָם אֲבִיכֶם שָׂשׂ לִרְאוֹת אֶת יוֹמִי וְאָכֵן רָאָה וְשָׂמַח
Anyway, one particular word in Genesis Chapter 22 is connected and related to a certain word that is used in Isaiah Chapter 53, which is about the crucifixion and death of the Messiah.
Both of those words are then connected and related to a key word used in Hosea Chapter 6, concerning what we call the "National Repentance, Redemption and Salvation of Physical IsraEL". This ultimate prophetic End Times event takes place at the end of the age, at the end of the Great Tribulation.
Moses and more than four ( 4 ) of the Hebrew Prophets wrote about this powerful End Times event. Their writings are then connected to certain prophecies spoken by Yeshúa in the Gospels.
Finally, all of these things, are also connected to certain End Times prophecies written about by the Hebrew ( Jewish ) Apostle Paul, as well as something also written by the Hebrew ( Jewish ) Apostle John. You will surely want to discover these astonishing truths.
We reveal and explain all these things, as well as multitudes of other incredible mysteries and astonishing revelations, in our teaching ( book ), "Raptured Or Left Behind?". We show so many verses, in English, Hebrew and Greek.
Get and read this book! It is simply mind-boggling.
Your spiritual eyes and understanding will be opened to startling truths, which you have never seen or imagined before.
You will also see, read and learn here also, that when the Greek words of the NT are properly, correctly and accurately translated into English, they agree with the Hebrew words of Moses and the Prophets, and Yeshúa Himself. It then all connects together and makes perfect sense.
